C. Palka, DVM
graduated from New York State Veterinary College at Cornell
University in 1969. He then worked in two mixed practices in
New York State developing and expanding their equine
clientele. It soon became apparent that working indoors in a
small animal environment would benefit nobody.
Personal requests and the sport of Competitive Trail Riding
brought him to practice in Connecticut. He continued to
compete in all distances of endurance and competitive trail
riding as well as being a judge and president of the Eastern
Competitive Trail Ride Association. His monthly column,
Trail Rider's Notebook, appeared in the Horseman's Yankee
Pedlar. He conditioned and shod his own horses. Two of his
horses earned their 1000 mile halter plates as well as many
best conditioned awards.

Dr. Palka's unique balance of horse owner, competitor and
equine veterinarian produces an in-depth understanding of a
horse's abilities and limitations. Thus, it becomes possible
to work with an owner to maintain long term health and
soundness at all stages of life. Such knowledge is
especially important in caring for the geriatric horse, in
which he has a special interest.
Besides riding, his hobbies are do-it-yourself and national
pistol competition. He lives in Chester with his wife and
bookkeeper, Betty, and their assortment of 4 footed hairy
friends.
